【题 目】25 ququart ion quantum computer
【摘 要】Over the past five years, we have developed a universal quantum computer based on ytterbium-171 ions, utilizing a qudit architecture. Currently, it is capable of operating with up to 25 ququarts (equivalent to 50 qubits) with full connectivity. This presentation will cover the chosen qudit architecture and discuss potential directions for its further development. Additionally, we will describe the experimental challenges encountered during this work and the methods we employed to overcome these obstacles. Some results from running algorithms on this quantum computer will also be presented.
【报告人简介】Ilya Semerikov works with the trapped-ion group in Renmin University of China as a visiting scholar. He is the head of the research group “Scalable Quantum Computing on Ions” at the Russian Quantum Center and also leads a laboratory at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. at the Lebedev Physical Institute in Moscow, Russia. In 2022, he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Science and Technology category. In 2023, Ilya received the national "Challenge" award in the Future Technologies category for his promising contributions to the field.
Over the past five years, he has been working on the development of a qudit-based quantum computer using the quadrupole optical transition in ytterbium ions as part of the national quantum computing roadmap. During this period, his team advanced from zero qubits in 2019 to building a 50-qubit universal quantum processor by 2024.
